Greg’s thoughts on being Unicoi County Mayor are: It is an honor to serve you as Mayor of Unicoi County. I hope that during my tenure as Mayor our citizens will feel they have a Mayor who is there for them. I take this job very seriously and I will make myself available to assist you in any way I can. I am here to serve you and help form a vision for the future of our County while taking care of issues facing our County and its citizens today. Greg Lynch is a life long resident of Unicoi County, the son of the late Ted Lynch Sr. and the late Texie Hensley Lynch. He married Tammy Bailey Lynch (deceased) and they have two sons, Thomas Lloyd and Tyler Lynch. Ted and Texie had four sons: Phillip (deceased), Ted Jr., Johnny and Greg. Ted Srs family moved to Erwin (The Fishery Community) from Dante, VA. with the railroad and Texies family moved from Beelog, NC to the Evergreen Community in Unicoi County. Greg graduated from Unicoi County High School in 1972 and graduated from ETSU in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. In 1979, Greg opened and operated Greg’s Drive In Restaurant, along with his wife and family until 1999. In 2000 Greg and his wife, Tammy established East Tennessee Probation Services serving Unicoi County General Sessions Court handling misdemeanor probation. Prior to this from 1986 until he became Mayor in 2006, Greg worked as the Youth Services Officer for Unicoi County Juvenile Court. Greg is a member of Grace United Methodist Church of Erwin and a member of the Unicoi Ruritan Club where he served as Zone Governor. Greg is a Clinchfield Railroad Historical Society member. Greg is a musician and currently enjoys singing in the Grace United Methodist Choir. His spare time, if any, is spent going to the mountain with his son for fishing, target practice and just relaxing or taking in a music event, especially bluegrass. |
